Not able to monitor 5850 GPU temp

Hello all, I recently had my 260M card die in my M15X so I had Dell send me a 5850 in its place and it seems to work fine but I am unable to monitor the GPU temp. I have tried both ATI Tray tools and HWMonitor and neither of them work for me. I have tried the Dell driver and am currently using the 11.2 drivers and with both it is the same result, any ideas?

Try GPU-Z (Sensors tab) (techPowerUp! :: Downloads) and HWiNFO32 (Sensors)(http://www.hwinfo.com/download32.html).

One question here, how do I monitor temperature during the gaming? I mean, during playing the games, there are digits indicating temperature at upper left corner, for an example.

For me, i open HW-info32, then i play game, after that i look at the Max tab, it records the maximum temp your card or processor ever hit. Mine went 78C on DMC4.

Someone else suggests using MSI Afterburner to display in-game GPU temperature. Then again, I can only get MSI Afterburner to display GPU load, no matter what sort of setting I tried. Man, it is frustrating.

i3-330um and GMA HD = MW2 possible?

Hey guys,

I've got a question that's been in my head for the past few days.

I'm wondering if the GMA HD can play MW2?

I saw some videos on youtube of the gma hd playing MW2.

But that's with a i3-350m cpu ( If I remember correctly ).

Will the i3-330um limit the clock of the gma hd to 166Mhz?

Because that's what notebookcheck states ( The gma hd will only get to the max clock if the cpu is not under full load ).

I doubt you would get any enjoyment playing at the lowest settings, resolution, and awful frame rates that would come with it. I would test it with my ULV netbook, but I don't have the game for PC.

I'm actually considering to buy a smaller notebook and use it for some light gaming. I don't mind low settings, resolution and such. But I would just like to know if it can play the game smoothly.

Hey, could u download the cod4 demo and try it out?

It would help me out so much.

If you're looking to run games on a netbook or a like system, I would look at the latest AMD solutions as the graphics are nearly twice of what Intel has and for a lower price. Something like a Lenovo x120e or HP DM1z.

You should be looking at the M11x in that case.

But I am still very interested to know if an ultra low voltage cpu ( i3-330um ) coupled with the gma hd can play mw2.

In the video, the guy has an i3-350m.

Can anyone help me test out cod4 or mw2 on their notebooks ( with a ulv i3/i5 cpu and gma hd ) at the lowest possible settings?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why would you buy a laptop that barely plays a game that you like now? What if a newer and better COD comes out? If you are looking to buy a laptop, tell us what you want and we will find one for you that fits your needs.

My guess is that he wants a laptop with a long battery life considering he keeps on mentioning the ultra low voltage CPU ._.



Really, M11x is probably the only thing that has sorta decent battery life and can play modern games at good fps ._.



If i3-350m with Intel GMA HD can barely play with 25 fps and max of 33 with some freezing, you can have an estimate of how it'll run on weaker hardware. You'd probably touch 20-23 fps at best

My guess is that he is not very high in budget also or else he would have chosen those ASUS with ULV cpu's and dedicated cards that's flowing in the market.



If you don't mind recertified, don't have the budget for a M11x, wants somewhat good battery life, and wants something portable, check out this ASUS.

HFSX file system on my Mac OSX is corrupted and my disk data is gone!!! someone recommended that Nice to Recover Data for Mac can recover and restore disk data for Mac and i tried. what i am confused is that i cant open the data it recovered. can anyone tell me why? is it because i did something wrong with this software? i know nothing about software......

Ok couple things.



If you use programs to try to "recover" items from your hard drive, there is a great possibility that you could damage it further!!!!!

Tech Tool Pro (its ok, more for maintence)

DiskWarrior (Great program for corrupt data systems)





If you go with diskwarrior, its essential that you do not try to repair the disk before you "preview" it. Previewing it allows you to see what the drive will look like after its repaired, but without trying to write to the disk. Many times this will save a failing hard drive from crashing completely!



Other then that Good luck. Many HDDs report a failing/corrupt system when the hardware in the HDD is failing.

Suddenly, I can't access the .mkv files on my external. What the heck is going on??

Just today, I went to my external drive to try and play a movie in mkv format, and I've never had difficulty opening anything until today. Keep in mind this is on my laptop.



When I open it in media player classic, it says file not found. What the heck?



So, I hover my mouse over one of the files, and it's ~8 GB, so it obviously exists. I then tried copying one of the files over to my desktop, and received the message "You require permission from Administrators to make changes to this file." What the HECK IS GOING ON?!!



Here's the strangest part. I then went and plugged my external drive into my desktop, and low and behold my movies played just fine; no access denied crap.



What in the world happened on my laptop to prohibit me access to my own files? I didn't make any changes that would have caused this to happen, or at least I don't think I did.

OK. As I see no one answered. You can try to go in properties of external drive (using explorer), In opened window go to security. You will see a list of users of computer. Click change and than choose your name and click Full access. The same for other users and admins if needed or if won't help. Good luck. Not sure that it will help

... restore the system to the point before the day you have the issue. Run a virus scan. Sounded like ownership issue as James mentioned above.

Cannot download updated adobe reader or uninstall old one

I had adobe reader 9.0 and got a pop up from them stating a new version was ready for install. I clicked on it but it would not finish install. From there I checked to see if the original worked and it does not. I have tried everything to uninstall the 9.0 and it will not uninstall.

Advice on Backup/Recovery Software!

Hi Guys -

What I'm after is a decent backup/recovery software that will literally take an image of a partition/whole disk, MFT, the works and convert to an .iso - thats the file format I want.

I have in the past looked into Acronis, (it's a bit basic) and currently using Paragon - it's been pretty bulletproof so far it has good ftp support.

While the .iso idea was good in its day I have stopped looking for that and continue to use CLONEZILLA.

I found something interesting about media sounds

This works on a Vista also since I tried it through a flashdrive.
It turns out that media sounds from WIN98SE and from another that is from 2005 called Random Events Sounds [RESXP] works when I installed some of windows~1,~2,`3,~4,~5,~6,~7,~8,~9,~10,~11,~12,~13,~14,~15, utopia open.wav, jungle aterisk,wav & SETUP02 from RESXP: eror2,hu,updown wavs+ WINXP wavs.
I only use some and ones I don't use are: ~4,~5,~7,~8,~10,~11, ~12,~13,~14,~15 and updown.wav. I am looking forward to getting WIN7 and see if ths is the same -after all, a .wav is .wav/ Darrell
