Best Home Wireless Router for multiple devices?

Ok... So I have the Ultimate tier through cox communications. I have 2pc's, 2 laptops, 3 cell phones, 1 ipod, and xbox 360 and an LED tv all connected to a network. The network always falls. What is the best router to handle this type of network? Betweent the price range of $200 - $300.

You will find only minor difference in the actual performance of most routers.

You want a dual band router but it will only help you if some/all of your equipment supports it. Dual band is key because it is in effect 2 routers in one box. This allows you to split your devices.

The main issue you will have with any wireless when you run lots of devices is that the radio frequency is shared and it does not share well, they all just try to get lucky and talk at the same time. So 2 radios reduces this issue.

Make sure you use ethernet cables for anything that does not require wireless. Although some people dislike this for "stylish" reasons performance wise cable is always better. The cabled connection do not compete for wireless and also have their own private connection to the router.

I have tried both of these routers and let me tell you how they worked out.

netgear wndr3700:
This router worked well. It had great range and good transfer rates, however it would drop the signal and the speeds were not consistent.

Apple - AirPort Express:
The range was horrible. In one room the transfer speeds were very good and somewhat consistent. I did like that this router never drops the signal.

My next step is to try the new linksys e4200. Will keep you updated.
