New mbp 2011 6750m - a worthy notebook for gaming.

I just want to put a quick note about my experience in games with this toy.

Doing so mostly because it was different from what i ve seen on notebookcheck.

Playing metro 2033 on ultra for around 5 hours or so under win7 - fps didnt drop below 30.

WoW: Cataclysm under mac os - on ultra as well, fps doesnt drop below 50 (which i set as maximum) only have to disable sunshafts since it crash the system for some reason.

My guess is that tests on notebookcheck were made on larger screens, specifically something like 24 inch. However WoW gave me reasonable results on 24 inch monitor as well - fps still didnt drop below 30, however it seemed like it needed a minute or two to "heat up", till then there were some 0.1s freezes at times.

Whats even better - its quite.

2.2Ghz. No SSD.

After spending significant time with it last night...I must agree completely.

This system is chewing up every game I'm throwing at it. Even Crysis Warhead is running well over 30fps @ 1920x1200. Everything I've purchased on Steam (TF2, Dead Space, Dragon Age, Mass Effect 2, etc.) is running at full resolution and at great fps on medum/high settings. Couldn't be happier with the gaming performance, considering the formfactor.

FYI, screen size doesn't matter; resolution does. Notebookcheck uses 1080p when they test max settings.

This was my only concern and only point holding me back from deciding to buying the new Macbook Pro 15 2011. Btw, I wouldnt notice any difference playing the same games on the MBP15 would I, since you're using the MBP17

30fps on Metro 2033 on Ultra? You've gotta be kidding me.

Two of the fastest cards on the planet - GeForce GTX 485m and Radeon 6970m barely do 16 and 18 fps respectively.

Ok guys sorry for confusing you, its indeed not 30 fps, i mean i was sure its 30, but now that i tried fraps it shows 18 :/ I played at 18 fps and didnt notice it i guess, i played on bad pc for too long.

Having run fraps in Battlefield: bad company and Metro, it indeed doesnt show 30 fps on high, however fps rate is very stable, if it shows 18 its pretty much always 18 ~3 fps.

for both games? what frame rates do you get with High and what settings/options do you have on? and what settings? and if everyone could list their screen resolution that would be great, if its not too much to ask

Ok here is some screens i managed to make (resized them but they are still like 1mb total).

1680x1050 resolution, external 22 inch monitor (runs better on native 1440x900)

B: Bad Company 2 — standard medium settings

CoD:BO — high from what i can tell

DA2: Standard high. Seem to be dropping to 25 when a lot of stuff is going on.

Bulletstorm — Medium settings
